MUSIC REVIEW:
Fred Forney, “Chasing Horizons”

VIEW THE CD DETAIL PAGE
Fred Forney, a "first call" trumpeter for touring artists who perform in Phoenix, also has recorded a number of albums with musicians who live and work in that area. He's supported here by tenor saxman Brice Winston, pianist Chuck Marohnic, bassist Dwight Kilian and drummer Dom Moio.

Each composition relates to an event, individual or locale that contributed to a "story" from Forney's life. Each member of the quintet is an accomplished soloist, but Forney's arrangements make use of clever ensemble passages that predominate. The band swings and would be ideal for jazz lounges o supper clubs.
