MUSIC REVIEW:
Idit, “Tuesday's Blues”

VIEW THE CD DETAIL PAGE
Israeli-born saxophonist Idit Shner brings something from her roots to this ambitious and highly personal quartet recording. While reinventing traditional Jewish numbers like "Ha Lachma," the playful lullaby "Elisheva Doll" and the meditative Yom Kippur prayer "Adon Haselichot," she also interprets Jimmy Rowles' hauntingly beautiful ballad "The Peacocks" and swings with Bird-like fluidity and fervor on her uptempo burner, "Tuesday Blues." Pianist Stefan Karlsson also contributes several bracing, harmonically adventurous solos throughout this stellar outing.
