Coin Flip is New York-based trumpeter Nathan Eklund's fourth release as a leader and his debut on OA2 Records. Eklund, along with fellow NYC mainstays saxophonist Craig Yaremko, Steve Myerson on fender rhodes, bassist Kellen Harrison and drummer Shawn Baltazor, navigates an eclectic program of nine new original compositions. Rooted in a modern, cohesive group aesthetic, Coin Flip displays a band enjoying their collaborative growth and a leader who's varied musical interests have melded into a distinct musical voice.
